Welcome! We are a parish community of the Melkite Eparchy of Newton in the U.S. We are joined to the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch, an Apostolic Church. We are Byzantine in our tradition and Catholic in our status. Our mission is to gather together in worship and thanksgiving to Almighty God, the Author of all good things. As a spiritual family, we seek to learn, to be nourished and inspired, to grow and attempt to become divinized on our journey to the Kingdom. Come, join us!

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Christ is among us!

During this special time, we believe that even more that He is with us, watching over us. That belief and hope will give us strength to carry us. Our resolve to an increased commit- ment to prayer at home, hopefully, will sustain us.

With the recent and rising dangerous situation of this deadly pestilence and heeding the cautionary advice of both medical and governmental officials, I have no choice but to close our church to the community and to the public at this time.

Sadly, we will not have the Divine Liturgy available for you this Sunday and until further notice.

Who could have ever thought that we would be experiencing something so fearful in our lifetime? Who would have thought the very holy and Precious Body and Blood of Our Lord would be denied to us? Who could conceive that we would not be able to gather together in our beautiful Lenten-adorned temple and pray as a parish family? That only happens in persecuted countries, right? And yet, a pestilence has come upon us and makes us experi- ence a similar denial!

Unfortunately, our richly-filled prayers of a different spirituality during this Lenten time will not be experienced physically here in our church. However, this does not preclude for believing and faithful Christians that this cannot be experienced at home through prayer, online viewing and discussion about our faith. The current times offer us a testing of what we really believe and hold dear to our hearts. The Holy Scriptures say: “Wherever your trea- sure is, there is your heart.”

Where are our hearts, O my sons and daughters of St. John Chrysostom Church Community? I would sincerely hope that each and every one of you would not look at this time as we do not have to go to church nor be responsible for it. Rather, I would hope that this absence from the uplifting, inspiring, icon-adorned and protective walls of our church hurts us deeply…so deeply that we miss and long for the time when you and it will be reunited again.

I pray and light candles that all of you remain safe among your families. I touch the holy icons of our iconostasis and ask Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Mother to watch over you.
