About Our Church

Christ Is Born!

Glorify Him!

Welcome to St. John Chrysostom Melkite Catholic Church, a parish community of the Melkite Eparchy of Newton in the U.S.

The Melkite Church is an Eastern Catholic Church of the Byzantine rite, in full communion with the Holy See in Rome, as a part of the global Catholic Church. We are perhaps the oldest continuous Christian Community in the world, tracing our roots back to the Christians of the ancient Syrian cities of Antioch and Damascus.

We are Byzantine in our tradition and Catholic in our status. Our mission is to gather together in worship and thanksgiving to Almighty God, the Author of all good things. As a spiritual family, we seek to learn, to be nourished and inspired, to grow and attempt to become divinized on our journey to the Kingdom. Come, join us!

St John What We Believe

What We Believe

Our most important belief is that we are called “to become partakers of the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4). Not just to be saved from sin.

St John Liturgical Services

Liturgical Services

The Eastern Tradition has the first Christians augmenting the Sabbath with a new festival, the Lord’s Day, the first of the week.

Education

The Mystery Celebrated provides an overview of the faith, worship, and spiritual life of the Eastern Church, placing it within the context of the liturgy.
